Troubled 8 y/o, suggestions needed?

You need to begin praising him for the things he does well. Reinforce good behavior. He's getting attention for being bad, so he keeps doing the bad things. If you start paying attention to all the things he does well, telling him how proud you are that he made his bed , make him special desert if he brings home a good grade etc.. he will get the positive attention he his craving. It will take awhile for this trend to reverse but it will.
